Did you leave the pharmacy with the right drug in hand?
Maybe not.

Many prescription drugs look and sound alike, but they’re used for very different reasons and they have very different effects.

Here’s how to protect yourself.

First, when your doctor writes a prescription, ask about the drug. Make sure you understand its side effects. Avoid dangerous combinations by telling your doctor and your pharmacist what you’re already taking.

Then, when you pick up your prescription, read the label. Make sure it’s exactly what you were expecting.

If you do develop side effects after taking it, call your doctor or pharmacist. Make sure you’re taking the right drug at the right dosage.
