Weekly Horoscope with a Twist Post 1

This very interesting first week of April is bookended by the First Quarter Moon and the Full Moon. It is still a fortuitous time for growth; the entire week is full of exciting planetary aspects. Full speed ahead!

The first aspect of the week occurs on Sunday, in the aftermath of the First Quarter Moon: the beneficial, opportunity-creating sextile between Venus in Aries and Jupiter in Gemini. Although Venus is still Retrograde in the sign of its detriment, and Jupiter as well is transiting through the sign of its detriment, such a contact is still a blessing. Particularly the extroverted Fire signs (Aries, Leo and Sagittarius) and communicative

Air signs (Gemini, Libra and Aquarius) will feel attractive, social, and willing to share ideas as well as material goods with others. However, since the Moon is in Cancer on Sunday, even the more private, wistful Water signs (Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces) should feel optimistic and Earth signs (Virgo, Capricorn and especially Taurus, which is ruled by Venus) should feel both loving and lovable. Grace and artistry are favored under this sextile; considering the signs involved, such physical art forms as dance and the martial arts should prove unusually satisfying. Hand-eye coordination should be very strong; weapons and machinery may seem very attractive. On a more scholarly note, this aspect also favors the passing of exams.

Wednesday is marked by the harmonious trine between the Sun in Aries and Pluto in Sagittarius. This is a healing, highly transformative aspect for everyone regardless of sign, although Fire signs (Aries, Leo and Sagittarius) and Pluto-ruled Scorpions should especially benefit. If you are ailing physically or emotionally, this trine will give you a new lease on life. Because this perceptive trine occurs in the Fire element, prophecy is favored.

Even those who scoff at mysticism will feel strange stirrings, almost hear things, ponder the meaning of life and death. What this aspect teaches us all is that nothing ever really dies, but moves on to another level, another plane. There is a slight danger of taking too much for granted with any trine, but this one in particular may encourage you to burn certain bridges behind you (a Pluto/Scorpio specialty.) On a more mundane level, this is a good aspect under which to revise your will and an excellent day to do your taxes if you have not already done so.

Thursday has two major aspects, both beneficial: the sextile between Mercury in Pisces and Saturn in Taurus, followed by the trine between Jupiter in Gemini and Neptune in Aquarius.

Saturn, planet of ambition, discipline, and limitation, has been creeping along through the last few degrees of earthy Taurus since turning direct in late January. Many of us have felt its entrenchment and melancholia, and the news has been full of lay-offs and a sluggish economy (Taurus is the money sign), even Mad Cow and the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in cattle in the U.K. (Taurus is the Bull, and what are cows but female bulls? I also believe that although the face is ruled by Aries, the mouth is ruled by Taurus.)

Mercury, planet of mental activity and communication, is the final planet to aspect Saturn while it is still in Taurus. (Saturn enters Gemini on April 20th.) Because the aspect is a sextile, I am hopeful that it will be a satisfactory finale to the entire two-and-a-half year transit of Saturn in Taurus. This is a very purposeful aspect which gives the opportunity for concentrated thought and communication.

With Mercury in Pisces, particularly Water signs (Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces) are capable of thinking very deeply, and are open to telepathic communication. Earth signs (Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn) should also feel comfortable and able to organize their thoughts. Look for these normally retiring, reflective souls to teach us something important regarding events of the past two and a half years.
